Retailers are Hiring More Workers in 2012 for Black Friday and the Holiday Shopping Season

If you’re looking for work to help get your family through the holidays, you may be in luck.

Black Friday 2012 Seasonal Jobs

Major retailers already are hiring seasonal employees for the holiday shopping season, including Black Friday.

A recent survey of major retailers by management consulting firm Hay Group shows that 75% of them are expecting to see sales increase for the 2012 holiday shopping season, and that optimism is translating to an increase in the number of seasonal jobs available. Hay Group also found that 36% of the retailers they surveyed expect to hire more workers for Christmas 2012, up from just 10% the year before, while the number of applicants for those jobs is expected to remain steady. That’s excellent news for holiday job seekers whose chances of landing a seasonal job will be better than last year.

“Retailers are betting big on the 2012 holiday season,” says Craig Rowley, vice president for Hay Group. “After four years of economic turbulence, they have figured out how to operate in an uncertain business environment, and are calm and cool, rather than concerned, as they head into the holidays.”

Possible Kohl’s Black Friday Sneak Peek

We all know that doorbusters are the true stars of Black Friday, and Kohl’shas released a possible list of what their Black Friday doorbuster deals might include!

2011 Kohl's Black Friday Preview

The crowds on Black Friday line up for Kohl's Black Friday doorbuster deals

On the Kohl’s website, we found a Black Friday preview page that features toys, home goods, electronics, and jewelry–all of which could be included in the Kohl’s Black Friday ad. We want to stress that this page is purely speculative, and that there are no steep price drops yet. Nevertheless, here are some great highlights from the Kohl’s Black Friday sneak peek:

  • KitchenAid Artisan 5-qt. stand mixer (currently $399)
  • Magic Bullet Express 17-piece  blending system (currently $74.99)
  • 14K white gold princess cut 1/4 ct. diamond earrings (currently $149.99)
  • Discovery Kids cardboard playhouse (currently $29.99)
  • Vivitar Digital Video Recorder (currently $39.99)

If history repeats itself (which it usually does), then it is safe to assume that most of these items will find their way onto the Kohl’s Black Friday ad, as many of these possible doorbusters have been featured previous years.
