Through Oct. 27th Kohl’s is running their Great Toy Sale, featuring some of the hot toys that we pointed out earlier will be the top sellers this holiday season such as the Furby Boom, Zoomer Dalmatian, and Sofia the First dolls. The toys are marked down in the ad, and then on top of that, Kohl’s Charge users can save 15%, 20%, or %30. You’ll also receive $10 Kohl’s Cash for every $50 you spend, redeemable from Oct. 24-Nov. 3. Kohl’s is giving free shipping on orders of $75 or more (after discounts are applied). While the sale is both in stores and online, some of the toys are only available online.Read the rest of this entry >

Target and Kohls announced that they have begun their holiday hiring, and are giving out mixed messages.
A year ago today we told you that 36% of retailers were expecting to hire more workers for the 2012 holiday season than they had in 2011. Last year Macy’s hired 80,000 seasonal workers, a 2.5% increase over the year before. They have not said anything yet about their plans for 2013.Read the rest of this entry >
Yes you read that right, Kohl’s is talking about toys! You may not normally think of Kohls when you’re out looking for the hottest holiday toys, but they want you to.
Today Kohl’s announced their “Top 25 Holiday Dream Toys“. We’ve never seen a toy list from them before, but this year they’re playing in the big leagues. Kohl’s has 20 items on the list that will be available in stores, and then 5 of the most desirable toys will be available only online. We’re a little surprised that it took Kohl’s this long to get into the holiday toy game. Kohl’s rarely sells items at full price for very long, plus customers can use their regular Kohl’s coupons and Kohl’s Cash on these items. If you happen to find the Furby Boom on sale, with a 30% off coupon, and you have some Kohl’s Cash, you’ll be the happiest shopper of the season!Read the rest of this entry >

If you’re looking for work to help get your family through the holidays, you may be in luck.
A recent survey of major retailers by management consulting firm Hay Group shows that 75% of them are expecting to see sales increase for the 2012 holiday shopping season, and that optimism is translating to an increase in the number of seasonal jobs available. Hay Group also found that 36% of the retailers they surveyed expect to hire more workers for Christmas 2012, up from just 10% the year before, while the number of applicants for those jobs is expected to remain steady. That’s excellent news for holiday job seekers whose chances of landing a seasonal job will be better than last year.Read the rest of this entry >

This has created quite a stir in the comments sections of our Black Friday news page as well as on our Facebook page.
