You may be crazy for Black Friday, but how does your city stack up?
If you live in Minnesota, congratulations, you live in the most Black Friday crazy state in the country. And while Black Friday fans in major cities like New York, Los Angeles and Chicago may be more likely to cruise Black Friday deals on their smart phones than shoppers in smaller towns, the Dallas suburb of Carrollton blows everyone out of the water with 60% of Black Friday searches happening on mobile devices. WOW.
We find that kind of stuff absolutely fascinating, so we had a lot of fun pulling together this infographic taking a look at some historical Black Friday data and a few Black Friday predictions for 2011. Will you be comparing Black Friday sale prices on your smart phone from the store aisle this year?

The Black Friday ads for Bon-Ton, Carson’s and Younkers have been released! The 68-page ad boasts 500 midnight doorbusters, many of which are available online on Thanksgiving Day. 
Bon-Ton Department Store, Carson Pirie Scott and Younkers are three branches of the same chain of stores, and most of the three ads are therefore the same from store to store. There are some differences in the first few pages, however, so be sure you’re looking at the right ad when making your Black Friday plans.

When Brandon Vanderstelt and his wife set up camp 10 days ahead of Black Friday outside of a North Texas Best Buy with a tongue-in-cheek “Occupy Best Buy” sign decorating their tent, their intent was to be first in line for Best Buy’s Black Friday deals.
“It’s an $800 TV for $200, so we figured people would be out here really early, and that’s a deal we didn’t want to pass up,” he said. ”We get about 100 questions a day and about 100 pictures,” Vanderstelt said. “Everybody talks to us. It’s fun.”
However, not everyone shares the Vanderstelts’ lighthearted view of Black Friday as news surfaced this week indicating that the Occupy Wall Street movement may take their protest to America’s malls on Black Friday to protest corporate greed.
While Adbusters’ “Buy Nothing Day” has been around for twenty years now, the momentum of the Occupy movement combined with growing frustration over the surge of midnight openings and mediocre deals may be enough to form an entirely new form of Black Friday mob. The idea is certainly gaining momentum, as evidenced by the establishment of websites such as StopBlackFriday.com, whose stated goal is to “Hit the 1% where it hurts – in the wallet.” Adbusters is largely credited with sparking the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Two more stores have announced their Black Friday sales: Value City Furniture and Wirefly.
Wirefly
The thing that makes Wirefly’s Black Friday ad unique is that Wirefly is not a brick-and-mortar store, and yet they released a multi-page ad like brick-and-mortars do. Since they’re an internet retailer It seems like they would be better suited for a Cyber Monday sale, but the popular internet wireless store has decided to offer a four day sale beginning on Thanksgiving Day and running through Cyber Monday. The takeaway here is to shop early -the best wireless deals here may be out of stock by the time Cyber Monday finally arrives. Some highlights from the 2011 Wirefly Black Friday Ad include:
- Samsung Stratosphere, free with 2-year Verizon Wireless activation and data pak
- HTC Wildfire S, free with 2-year T-Mobile account and data plan

Electronics Expo has released their 2011 Black Friday Ad. They will be open in most locations on Black Friday at 5AM-10PM and on Saturday from 9AM-10PM. One great piece of this ad is that they tell you exactly how many products will be in stock for Black Friday. For example, they say that the LG 47″ TV listed below only has 150 pieces available. A very helpful piece of information, as you will know that even though they’re open on Saturday, they probably wont have any more doorbusters in stock.

Sports Authority leaked their Black Friday Ad this morning.
The 11-page ad is called “Black Friday Savings” and announces a 5am store opening. Doorbuster specials run from 5am to 3pm on Black Friday, and a 2-day sale will run Friday and Saturday.
Some highlights from the Sports Authority Black Friday Ad include:
- Gamepower Top Spin Plus Table Tennis Table with Basketball Play for $159.99
- Pro-Form 6 ORT Treadmill for $349.99
- Razor E100 or E125 Electric Scooter for $89.99

Who needs Black Friday when you can have Black November instead? That’s online retail giant Newegg’s plan for attracting holiday deal hunters. 
Instead of offering holiday deals on a single day or weekend, Newegg is slashing prices for the entire month of November, allowing shoppers to avoid the Black Friday crowds and score deals from the comfort of home. Special promotional offers began on November 1st. Newegg will feature deeper discounts with Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Encore Tuesday promotions, but the overall sale will run throughout the month.
Newegg will also offer the Iron Egg Guarantee from 11/23 to 12/24. Products featuring the Iron Egg will have an extended 60 day return window and are eligible for the Price Guarantee, a service which refunds the difference if you find a lower price on your purchase elsewhere during the promotion period.
“At Newegg we strive to deliver the best possible shopping experience,” said Bernard Luthi, senior vice president of marketing, web management and customer service at newegg. “We are committed to doing everything we can to make the 2011 holiday shopping season easy and convenient. Kohl’s has released their Black Friday 2011 ad! As we confirmed earlier, they will open at 12AM on Black Friday and will have over 500 Early Bird Specials through 1pm. This 64-page ad highlights toys, jewelry, home decor and more.
Some of the best deals we saw in the Kohl’s Black Friday Ad were:
