More than a month after the first hot holiday toy lists hit the internet from competitors including Walmart and Toys R Us, holiday retail mainstay Target has finally published its own guide to the season’s top gifts for kids.
Sofia the First is the undisputed star of the 2013 holiday season.

Target notes that they teamed up with top toy manufacturers to come up with their list. The press release announcing which toys made the final cut also highlights a promotional video series featuring a former CIA officer, Jonna Mendez, who will help parents ferret out clues to what their kids actually want for Christmas.
“Before parents can start shopping for holiday gifts, they need to solve the puzzle of what their kids want most – which often extends beyond the toy aisles,” said Scott Nygaard, a senior vice president in Target merchandising. “Target offers guests tools to build their lists, including a dedicated online portal, our annual kids’ gifts catalog and the Kids’ Gift Detective, who brings some lighthearted fun to list building.”
As for the Target toy list itself, there are very few surprises – Sofia the First, Big Hugs Elmo, Disney Planes, Furreal Monkeys, Furby Boom and Flutterbye Fairies have been prominently featured in nearly every holiday toy list we’ve seen. There are some Target exclusives on the list as well, and of course the Xbox One and Playstation 4. However, Target highlights some surprisingly grown-up “toys” for older kids, including some Beats Headphones and the Samsung Galaxy S4.
