We covered the unveiling of the Target Toys Catalog yesterday when it was rolled out on Target’s website. And as if that isn’t exciting enough, today we also got our hands on a copy of the print edition of the Target toy book that was distributed yesterday in Sunday newspapers.
The print edition of the toy book is a short 48 pages compared to the 110-page book that Target released online. But before you decide that the shorter print edition isn’t worth your time, let’s look at the details. What does the printed toy book have that the online version does not? There may be fewer pages, but those pages are more densely packed with the hottest toys of the holiday season. Is everything that’s in the online catalog included in the print version? Probably not. But we did spot some batteries that weren’t included online, and Santa knows exactly how important it is to tuck some batteries in the kiddos’ stockings to power all of their new toys.
However, the real highlight is the coupons. Available only in the print version of the Target Toys Catalog, these coupons offer savings on popular toy brands both in-store and online. Check page 29 of the ad for the promo codes. These coupons expire on November 21, and promo codes may not be combined with any other promo codes. Here’s the complete list:

We finally got our hands on the 110-page Target 2012 Toys Catalog. If you’re looking to get some of your shopping done prior to Black Friday, they are offering free shipping on this year’s hot toys. We aren’t sure what kind of deals they will have on these toys, because they decided to opt out of this years Black Friday price wars. So, if you can’t risk waiting for Black Friday, it might be worth it to buy now and take advantage of this free shipping deal!
Some of the hottest toys in this years Target Toys Catalog include:

- Furreal Friends Lulu’s Walkin’ Kitties – $19.69

While they are a few days behind their competitors, Kmart, Walmart and Toys R Us, it does have one unique feature. You can create a wish list while you’re viewing the toy book online. Have your kids create their wish list, then you can email it to friends and family, print it out for Black Friday shopping or save it as a Target List so you can buy everything you need at Target.com whenever you start your holiday shopping!

Target has flip flopped on their holiday and Black Friday plans more in the last month than your favorite warm-weather footwear did all summer.
At the beginning of September Target announced that they were backing out of the holiday price wars and would not be playing the low price game with their competitors this year. Then, around the end of September, Target announced that they would in fact be joining Best Buy, Walmart, and pretty much every other store in America in participating in Black Friday.
Over the weekend we reported that Best Buy would be price matching online competitors in efforts to cut down on losses due to “Showrooming”. Now, according to Mashable, Target has said they will be doing the same. Showrooming is when customers go to Target to check out the products that they’re thinking of buying, but then leave the store after looking at it to go buy it online for a better price. The Target store becomes a show room for the online store. To keep this from happening, Target will be price matching select online retailers such as amazon.com, BestBuy.com, Toysrus.com, Babiesrus.com, and their own site, target.com. Just like with Best Buy’s price matching, there are a few rules.

Black Friday is slowly but surely approaching, and even though the biggest shopping day of the year is still seven weeks away, shoppers are already planning their Black Friday shopping strategies. However, you can’t possibly plan a shopping strategy until the Black Friday ads are released. 
When will retailers release their Black Friday 2012 ads? That is the big question. The anticipation is building. So, we decided to make some of our own predictions of when big retailers might release, based on previous Black Friday ads releases from 2010 and 2011.
From research and observation of recent years, we suspect smaller retailers, like mall stores or hardware stores, may be the first to come out with their Black Friday ads. For bigger retailers like Toys R Us, Best Buy, Target and Walmart, we’ve made a list of dates of when their Black Friday ads came out within the last two years and what we predict will be this year’s release date. We’ll be posting them as soon as they arrive, whether earlier or later than predicted.

Target will be participating in Black Friday 2012. We noticed earlier today that Target’s annual “Save the Date” page has gone live, confirming once and for all that it has not given up on Black Friday this year.
This comes on the heels of last month’s rather blunt announcement that that they would not be playing the low price game for the holidays this year. The announcement had touched off a firestorm of internet rumors that Target also would refuse to offer any Black Friday specials.
So at last, Target’s Black Friday faithful can breathe a sigh of relief. Black Friday at Target is definitely on. We would have been more surprised if this wasn’t the case, as Target is consistently one of the top four Black Friday retailers in the United States. It didn’t make much sense that they would abandon Black Friday altogether, though we may not see blockbuster prices on doorbuster electronics. (more…)

If you’re looking for Black Friday deals at Target this year, you may be disappointed. A new report from DailyFinance indicates that the holiday retail giant will not be playing the low price game this year.
“We’re not interested in driving sales for the sake of sales, [so] you might see us lag competitors in terms of comp-store sales increases,” said John Mulligan, CFO of Target, during Goldman Sachs’ Global Retailing Conference on Wednesday.
Don’t expect the crowd at Black Friday at Target to be any lighter, though. While they may not have the best prices on TVs and laptops for Black Friday 2012, Target will be putting a larger emphasis on its home and fashion partnerships with trendy designers and high end brands like Neiman Marcus.

Target issued a press release this morning announcing its first ever Summer Cyber Week sale. As Cyber Monday follows Black Friday sales, Summer Cyber Week will run from July 22 to 28, immediately after the Bonus Black Friday sale.
“Over the past two years our Black Friday in July sales have been a big hit with our savvy guests who appreciate bargains,” said Casey Carl, president, Multichannel at Target. “This year, we’ve added something special by offering an extra day of Black Friday-like deals as well as Target’s new Summer Cyber Week – treating our guests at Target.com to nine straight days of savings.”
In addition to the sale benefits we’ve already mentioned, Target also issued a sneak peek at some of the items that will be for sale during Black Friday in July:

Christmas in July is so passé. Retailers who traditionally have celebrated Christmas in July are restyling their midsummer clearance sales as Black Friday in July, and retail giant Target is leading the pack.
Target has announced that its Black Friday in July sale will take place on July 20th and 21st. Subscribers to Target emails will also be eligible to receive an extra 10% off select Black Friday sale items.
