Where Did the Macy’s Black Friday Ad Go?

A few days ago, we discovered a leaked portion of Macy’s Black Friday ad and posted it for our fans who are eagerly awaiting Black Friday shopping at Macy’s. Macy's Black Friday Ad 2012It was very well received. Perhaps too well received, because it also caught the attention of Macy’s. And although our fans were very pleased, Macy’s was decidedly not pleased at all.

We’ve agreed to remove the leaked Black Friday info from our website. However, this removal is only temporary. The day is coming soon when Macy’s will give us the all clear to post the full ad for you in all its glory.

In the meantime, here’s last year’s Macy’s commercial. We know it’s nowhere close to being as exciting as the Macy’s Black Friday ad, but we still kind of love it. If you’d like to be notified when the full and authorized ad is posted, sign up to receive our Black Friday Alerts.

Macy’s Leaks a Sneak Peek at Their 2012 Black Friday Deals

Although we don’t have an official Macy Black Friday Ad yet, there has been a new Macy’s leak of 20 Black Friday items that allegedly will be in the official Black Friday ad. Our source is credible and the prices look legit to us, but we’re filing this as a rumor until we see the ad itself. Take a look at all 20 items and their prices.Macy's Black Friday Ad 2012 Sneak Peek You can buy the Charter Club Down Comforter right now at its supposed Black Friday price, and the Lauren Ralph Lauren Logo Pillow will be reduced by just $1 from its current sale price, so we recommend buying these items now rather than later when high Black Friday demand may lead to shortages and backorders. On the other hand, the collection of small kitchen appliances for $9.99 each look like true Black Friday bargains.

Macy’s plans to hire 80,000 employees this Holiday Season

Macy’s is one of many retailers who have announced plans for 2012 seasonal hiring. Macy’s has reported they will be hiring 80,000 seasonal workers to prepare for the 2012 holiday season, including Black Friday. This amount is 2.5% more than they hired last year to work at both Macy’s and Bloomingdales stores. Macy’s will be hiring for associates to work on sales floor, in store operations, in call centers, and at shipping centers.

Macy's Hiring For Black Friday 2012

These seasonal hires are being brought on to ensure customer satisfaction during the shopping season, as outlined by the chairman of Macy’s, Inc. Terry K. Lundgren. “Hiring additional associates for holidays ensures that our customers are well-served in this busy shopping period – both on the sales floor and behind the scenes,” he says and states that these jobs are intended to help a variety of americans earn some extra money like college students, retirees, and people look for some extra cash during the holiday season.

Black Friday Catches Bieber Fever at Macy’s

How do you get every tweenage girl in America to choose your store on Black Friday? Put Justin Bieber in your Black Friday commercial, of course!

Macy's Black Friday Commercial with Justin Bieber

Do you really think J.B. would ever really stand in line at Macy’s for Black Friday deals? Neither do we.

International pop star and teen heartthrob Justin Bieber stars in a Macy’s Black Friday commercial that will hit the airwaves on Tuesday November 22nd. In the commercial, the Biebs encounters unlikely fans, including a chauffeur and manly warehouse staff who scream like 13 year old girls, while heading to Macy’s for their midnight opening on Black Friday.

“This Black Friday, Macy’s will open at midnight across the country for the first time,” said Martine Reardon, executive vice president of Marketing for Macy’s. “With humor and the help of Justin Bieber, we are reminding our customers to shop early at Macy’s to find the most desirable gifts at a great value.”

Macy’s is known for its celebrity-studded commercials, with stars drawn from the brands they carry including Jessica Simpson, Martha Stewart and others. This year, Justin Bieber is releasing a Macy’s exclusive perfume gift set called “Justin Bieber Someday”. In addition to a 1.7 oz. bottle of perfume, the set includes a Justin Bieber holiday CD and poster and is expected to sell out quickly despite its hefty $64 price tag – Beyoncé, Sean John and Rihanna’s own perfume sets offer twice as much Eau de Parfum for less cash. C’est la Biebs.

Planning to Shop at Midnight? Massachusetts Law Says No.

Thanks to a blue law from the 17th century, there will be no midnight openings in Massachusetts for Black Friday.

Black Friday Midnight Doorbusters in Massachusetts

Midnight doorbusters in Massachusetts? 17th century blue laws say no.

Many Massachusetts retailers who had been planning for the midnight openings now are scrambling to decide when they can open legally.

“The blue laws are clear as mud in Massachusetts,” said Jon Hurst, president of the Retailers Association of Massachusetts. “We’ve reminded some of the members informally that you have to be careful about the opening. Not only can you not sell on Thanksgiving, but there are also restrictions on labor working then.”

To open at midnight, stores must call in their employees an hour or two early to prepare. However, the nearly 400 year old state law prohibits employees from working until after midnight on Thanksgiving. “The spirit of the law and intent is to give people a day off, and that is why this state has exercised that authority in the way it has,” says Patricia DeAngelis, general counsel for the Massachusetts Department of Labor Standards.

A few major retailers have announced their Black Friday hours for Massachusetts:
