Well, the cats are out of the bag. Yup, you read that right: cats. As in the plural form of “cat.”
Both models are slated for release on Friday, September 20, with the standard 16GB iPhone 5S retailing for $199 with a two-year contract and the 16GB iPhone 5C retailing for $99 with a two-year contract. While we’re still in the dark as to what, if any, iPhone deals will materialize on Black Friday, we do have a couple ways in which you can save on Apple’s smartphone line come November 27.
Now that the iPhone 4S is Apple’s entry level smartphone, the eldest surviving member of the iPhone family will be available for free after signing a two-year contract through the Apple Store or with AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint.
But once you purchase your new iPhone 5S or 5C, what good is your old smartphone? Well, besides immediately morphing into a very expensive iPod Touch, that soon-to-be-defunct smartphone is worth something to smartphone trade-in and buy-back programs. And, wouldn’t you know, Walmart is rolling out it’s very own new smartphone trade-in program on September 20, the same day the new iPhones go on sale.
Were you to sell your old iPhone 5 back to Walmart for a confirmed trade-in credit $300 on Black Friday and purchase a brand new iPhone 5S with a two-year contract, you’d still have about $100 leftover that you could then, presumably, use to purchase a new iPhone 5C with a two-year contract.
Think about that: you’d be selling an old iPhone 5 and getting both new model iPhones with your smartphone credit. While that may not be a deal exclusive to Black Friday, a two-for-one trade-in deal for two newfangled iPhones as well be Black Friday doorbuster.
