Looking for 2013 Black Friday News? Check it out here.
According to technology site AllThingsD, Apple is planning to announce the next iPhone at a news event on September 10, and the timing of the announcement would seem to indicate that the iPhone 5S will hit the shelves just in time for the holidays.
Rumored features include a bigger screen that would compete with the popular Galaxy S4, as well as availability in a range of colors beyond the traditional black or white. There has also been speculation about camera and processor enhancements and even a fingerprint sensor – an addition that makes us think that using an iPhone 5S in the winter months might be a bit more than a pair of texting gloves can handle. AllThingsD also notes rumors that a lower-priced iPhone model might debut alongside the iPhone 5S.
Judging by Apple’s product launch history, we think a pre-Black Friday release makes the most sense, and most tech commentators are looking at October.
Not planning to camp out in October for a new iPhone? We recommend waiting until Black Friday, when we expect to see the iPhone 5S bundled with gift cards at retailers like Best Buy, Walmart and Radio Shack.
