Walmart and Best Buy Black Friday Hours Confirmed

For a few weeks there have been some rogue 2012 Black Friday store hours lists circulating around the internet that are unverified. Today Black Friday by Brads Deals has verification that Walmart and Best Buy will be opening at midnight on Black Friday again this year.

Walmart store hoursOther Black Friday news sources have been reporting store opening hours over the last few weeks but have not been providing any hints of where their information is coming from.Best Buy Store Hours We’ve noticed that it’s the exact same list that seems to be going around with store hours suspiciously similar to last year. We did some searching and couldn’t find any stores that had sent out press releases announcing opening times or any times listed on store websites. Today we saw our first hint at store hours from a reputable news source.

NorthJersey.com reported today on the Riverdale, NJ Police Department’s plans for scheduling officers on Black Friday. In the article, NorthJersey.com mentions that “The Borough Council announced that two local stores, Best Buy and Walmart, submitted applications to open at midnight on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. The governing body approved these applications.”

Unlike smaller chain stores, big retailers like Best Buy and Walmart open at the same time across the country. If they are planning to open at midnight in Riverdale, New Jersey, they will be opening at midnight in your town too.

Beware of lists of store hours that don’t identify their sources.  Black Friday by Brads Deals provides you with store hours and store ads as soon as they become available and we never post anything we’re not sure of. Check back periodically on our  list of official 2012 Black Friday store hours to see what new stores have announced their hours.

Now that we know Best Buy and Walmart are planning to open at midnight what time do YOU plan on getting there to camp out?

The great thing about our walmart is that they are 24hrs, so no waiting out in the cold :)

    • Walmart Employee says:

The walmart in Raynham will be open at 1am this year … Last year the town of Raynham didn’t allow them to open until 4am but they have allowed them to open at 1am this coming black Friday … If you live near that store i will see you there lol

    • Tart says:

Walmart is closed on thanksgiving, so it won’t be open before midnight that night.

  2. Nicole says:

What about Massachusetts Walmart? They didn’t open at midnight last year like every other state.:(

    • kdenton says:

      Hi Nicole,

The laws in Massachusetts are different than in most other states. Once Walmart has released their official Black Friday ad, I would suggest calling your local store and asking when they plan on opening. By the time the ad is out, everyone working at the store should know what the hours are going to be. Thanks for reading!

Valdosta, GA 2011 opened at midnight on Thanksgiving Day. Basically ruinning Thanksgiving for many families. Why? Because the lines started forming at 1pm Wednesday. You had to stand/sit in line all day Wednesday & stay the night in a folding chair just to stay in line ALL day on Thanksgiving day until midnight. 23 hours in line to be a frugal husband and Daddy and be able to afford just a few nice gifts for the family. Of course we missed seeing any family or spending any quality time with family on Thanksgiving Day. (save your hipocritcal statements, we needed a new small computer to pay bills and communicate with school, job and family. We weren’t in line for a Kinects and a 60″ Gaming TV ok?)So, Thanks to the Corporate Idiots (we consumers pay your fat salaries, and you don’t have to shop on black friday) who thought they would change Black Friday to Thursday. Go back to Friday please! We love your stores, sales, and products that make you rich, and will continue to support you and your families income, but please respect that we love our families too! It’s called Black Friday because it’s on Friday! Your confusing my school age children! “Daddy? will we see you this Thanksgiving?” :^( I’m not sure yet baby girl… My job requires me to purchase a laptop…. I gotta do whatever it takes to support my family….I’m sorry baby girl… don’t cry…Daddy loves you! (True Personal Story)

If your job requires you to purchase a laptop, subscribe to Walmart’s emails. They usually have a laptop sale twice a year, in February and August. The prices beat Black Friday sales every time. We got an amazing laptop a few years ago, it just got a virus, our fault, for under $200. We had purchased in over two years ago. I have to do my work from a computer too and having the laptop lets me to go out and not be stuck at home, so I understand. Just check out their other sales too.

  5. Shawn says:

I will be there about 8 or 9 depending on if its something that I really want. I am one of those people who shop all through the year and dont really have a lot to get on black friday but I just love the crowds and shopping.

  6. Andrea says:

    All I can say about Daddy is…. WOW… OMG…. WTF….REALLY….

I do Black Friday every year with my Mom and Sister after we have Thanksgiving, it has become a tradition for us. We have so much fun getting together and fighting these crowds (not literally) and getting the great deals… We are one of the many families that to afford big ticket items we have to shop black friday! After thanksgiving we all gather around the table with all the ads and start making our lists of what were getting and where were going first! We can’t wait till Bradsdeals comes out with the ads so we can start!! Yeah…. So looking forward to the next adventure of Black Friday!

  8. [...] Buy jumps on the price-matching bandwagon TweetWe talked last week about how Walmart and Best Buy were both on the same page on Black Friday hours; with stores in New [...]

  9. Ellen says:

The thanksgiving story REALLY!!!! That is utterly ridiculous to miss your family dinner to stand in line for a computer. The computers they offered were ok computers but laptops are a dime a dozen now. You could get one at a different time other then black friday for a few more dollars. Just cut out those drive thru trips to mcdonalds and put that money aside for the few dollars you saved. I like a fool stood in line for a 42″ tv for 4 hours for my son and all that I really saved for him was $80. Never again!!! Then they have midnight ads and 3-4am ads so they want you to hang around for both. This all got out of hand. Plus fighting with the rudest people ever on that day. Each store tries to best the other by starting earlier and earlier and if you really check out prices you can find all that stuff without all the hassle of standing in line for hours later at a little higher price.

  10. Bonnie says:

I absolutely refuse to go to the Mt.Dora, Fl Wal-Mart for Black Friday. Last year they were supposed to open the doors at midnight. I arrived at 11:pm and everyone in Lake Co was inside the store already and all the sale items were in everyones hands. Everything I had planned on getting was already gone. Although they would not let you check out before 12, it was unfair to all the other people that play by the rules. Very unorganized!

  11. Brenda says:

In Savannah, Georgia the Walmart was opened 24hrs. You could not purchase items or get them until that time, but being inside was heaven. It gave you the opportunity to purchase other items that were not just Black Friday sales. My sisters, daughter and neices really had a wonderful time waiting around. I ran into some old high school friends I hadn’t seen in 30 years. I am looking forward to the same for this year. I HOPE IT HAPPENS.

  12. Heather says:

Bonnie my local Walmart did the same thing. Completely unfair to everyone else. As far as leaving my family to sit in line for hours…hell no. Especially for a Walmart computer. I refuse to buy bigger ticket electronics from there. I spent a little more & got a computer 10x better at Best Buy with Geek Squad, antivirus, Microsoft Office & a lot of other extras. It also has a 1tb hard drive.

  13. lauren says:

Walmart was open at 10pm last year…

  14. heather says:

Walmart in ft oglethorpe ga is open 24hrs thanksgiving day but you can get in line to get good items, just cant get hands on the till midnight, and later. We always go at 9 and wait it out. Its our tradition:)

  15. rachel says:

I did not like the stores opening at 10pm, 12am, 2am etc. usually we get a little sleep Thanksgiving night. Last year, we would rush in a store get what we wanted then have to wait for the next one to open. There were so many teenagers out due to it being at night instead of 6am when they are sleeping (lol). Also because so many opened hours apart everyone had time to go store to store so they were even more crowded.

  16. dont shop black friday says:

to daddy sacrifice: let’s be clear, YOU don’t HAVE to ruin your thanksgiving. it is a choice you make to shop rather than spend a holiday with family. black friday is for sheep who allow merchants to hoodwink them into thinking they are getting good value for their money. truth is, walmart does not provide quality merchandise which translate to little value for your dollars. if people would make their families a priority, this game of “sales” would cease and people could get back to family values.

  17. nomansland says:

    Some of us think shopping is part of family values…Unless you don’t like new warm pjs in the winter. {loser}

  18. Susan A. says:

The heck with ruining my Thanksgiving. There is only hubby and I. I found and Xbox with Kinect and a 50 dollar gaming coupon at Kmart last week so I put it on layaway. I am a money conscious person, since we have limited funds and live on a fixed income, but I absolutely refuse to ruin the holiday(s) shopping. My holidays spent with hubby are more important to me. I was an only child and by no means was I spoiled with gifts. I received one gift and my stocking at Christmas and was very happy. I was very fortunate to loving parents, and yes my father worked. He worked in a steel mill for 42 years, and as long as I can remember he never missed a day of work. My mom was a store detective for many years at a large dept. store in Pittsburgh until the store closed on 1957, she started there at the age of 13 , as a wrapper on the Gift Dept. I didn’t feel deprived by any means. Today, families seem to have their priorities out of sync.

  19. Michele says:

My sons camped out on Wednesday evening with friends at Best Buy and spent the whole day hanging out. My husband and I joined them and we had so much fun meeting new people and spending quality time together. We just had our Thanksgiving on Friday night. My guys are planning to do it again this year and I think it’s great. They don’t know what’s on sale, but they can’t wait for Black Friday 2012.

  20. Anjel B says:

Walmart is open on Thanksgiving. The only day they are closed is Christmas. I’m in TN and they are open all day Thanksgiving and start sales at 10:00 pm and 12:00 am.

  21. Diana H says:

A few years ago went to staples to buy a computer on black fri. Got there about 2 am and there were several people in line. Got in line to wait. A little while later 2 store employees came out of the store with tickets and started asking the first person in line what they were there to get. Thats the year the tom tom was big. Whatever you were there for as long as they lasted, you got a ticket. Then you had all day the next day to come back and pick up your item. that was the smartest thing I had ever seen done. I wish all stores were like that. I have also waited at Walmart for 8-12 hours in line to get a computer at 5 am and I can tell you, it sucks. But I guess I will be doing it again this year because I love to go.

  22. Ron says:

as an employee of one of the above mentioned stores PLEAS STAY HOME!!!!!! its all about the money the big stores could give a damn less about you or the Employees!!!!! and those bargains you stand in line for all day when you could be home instead of in a line out in the cold, well first there will only be a specific amount and most of those Black Friday items you think you are getting a deal on WERE MADE FOR BLACK FRIDAY!!!!!! DUH!!!!!! and you know there will only be 10 or 20 per store so do the math look at the line then go home!!!! if they didn’t con you out of your hard earned cash on BLACK FRIDAY they would stop doing it.
