Walmart’s Top 20 Toys for 2012 Just Announced

Last month Black Friday by Brad’s Deals gave you our predictions for what the top 10 hottest toys of 2012 will be. This week Walmart put out their list of the top 20 toys for this holiday season. So how did our predictions match up with Walmart’s?

Our Top 10 Toys for Black Friday 2012

What Black Friday by Brad’s Deals thinks the top 10 hottest toys for 2012 will be.

  1. Furby 2012: We both think that this revamped version of the cult favorite 90s toy will come out as the hottest toy for this holiday season. Currently priced at $54.00, we can’t wait to see if Walmart does a dramatic Black Friday discount on Furby 2012.
  2. LeapFrog LeapPad2: The LeapPad was a huge Black Friday seller in 2011 and Walmart is expecting it to be almost as popular this year. While we still think the LeapPad will be big this year, there are so many other tablets for kids (the  iPad mini, Tabeo Kids Tablet, and the Nabi 2 Tablet for Kids,) that LeapFrog has some stiff competition this year.

The rest of our lists don’t quite match up. Walmart seems to think that people will be going towards dolls, hot wheels, and board games; more traditional holiday toys. We think that considering that these “simple” toys are still costing around $50 that people will be more likely to choose high tech toys; getting more for their money.

Aside from the toys on Walmart’s top 20 list they will be selling 150 exclusive items throughout the toy department, such as the Bratz Pink Winter Dream Doll Collection and Fortune Cookie Maker.

Now that the list is up you can guarantee that you’ll get these toys, even if they go out of stock, by using Walmart’s layaway program, which will begin this Sunday. Customers who like their local Walmart store’s Facebook page can begin using layaway today. If you put a toy on layaway on Sunday and the price gets rolled back later in the season, Walmart will honor the rolled back prices as long as it is still in effect when you make your final payment.  Giving you an even better deal, Walmart will also match competitor pricing during checkout for layaway products through its ad match policy. Once completed, customers will receive a full refund of the $5 layaway open fee on a Walmart gift card

Walmart offers free shipping to your local store if you are buying toys online. They also offer customers the option to purchase your orders online but pay for them with cash at your local Walmart store.

Which toy  from either list, Black Friday by Brad’s Deals’ or Walmart’s will YOU be rushing to nab this holiday season? Let us know in the comments below.

Wal Mart’s new layaway SUCKS. After shopping for hours, I had my buggy full of at least 400 dollars of items. When I got there, they told me that each item had to be at least $15.00. Ok, I took all my stuff back to the shelves. The next time I went to Wal Mart – I shopped for at least 4 more hours, filling my buggy again with items over $15.00. This time I even had around 500.00 worth of items, and ever item over $15.00 each. When I get to the layaway dept. they tell me they can only put electronics and toys in the layaway. This is a big CROCK of CRAP to get people to WalMart. This doesn’t help the people that need layaway!

You could always use Kmart layaway which is free and you can put WHATEVER you need on layaway including clothes which is something most people give to older kids anyway. I try not to enter WAL MART FOR ANYTHING THEY SUCK AT EVERYTHING.

My wife and I shopped at WalMart for about 3 hours and had a shopping cart full of items we were going to place on layaway. We asked where do we go to place on layaway and the representative said to the front cashier. We did and the cashier said we had to go back of the store, but layaway closes at 9pm. It was 10pm and I asked to a manager “Where are the hours listed for layaway” She said that they are posted in the back of the store at layaway. No layaway hours are posted at all at this WalMart. We paid for 2 items and placed all the other items back on the shelves where they belonged. Very frustraing experience.
