What’s the “Hot Toy” this holiday season? Here are our predictions on the top 10 toys to buy.

Now that Walmart and Toys R Us both have released their holiday lists, it’s time to start thinking about what toys will be hot on Black Friday. Every year  there are certain toys that are deemed the, “Hot Toy” of the season. Adults will go to great lengths to get these items, including: standing in line for hours, purchasing it online for 4 times its actual value, ripping it out of another adults hands. Every year, like clockwork, the race to get these toy will begin. What will it be this year? Last year we compiled every hot holiday toy back to the teddy bear mania of 1903. Here are our predictions on what will be the hottest toys for the 2012 holiday season.

Top 10 hottest toys to buy this holiday season

  1. Furby 2012 - The new Furby was designed with softer fur, and is available in more vibrant colors. It also has more internal sensors, so it is more responsive than the former Furby. The Furby 2012 can be connected to the iPhone and iPad mini to use with downloadable apps to up the fun factor.
  2. Tablets - Tablets have been found to be a  great learning and entertainment tool for kids. A few suitable tablets for kids include: the  iPad mini, LeapFrog LeapPad2 Explorer, Tabeo Kids Tablet, and the Nabi 2 Tablet for Kids
  3. Fijit Friends - Fijit Friends are interactive toys you an can poke, squeeze, and talk to and it will react. Their soft skin allows them to move and dance, and they are programmed to respond to over 30 phrases.
  4. Web Shooting Spider Man - This Spider Man action figure shoots webs out of its wrists, like the real spider man!
  5. Nintendo Wii U - Hitting stores November 18th, the Nintendo Wii U is available in white and black. The white console contains 8 GB of storage, and Black contains  32 GB . The  new controller is called the Wii U GamePad and has an embedded touchscreen.  Both come with a HDML cord, and are compatible with Wii.  The new controller allows the user to continue playing the game on it, even when the television is off.

  6. Nintendo 3DS XL - The Nintendo 3DS XL console is remotely the same as the Nintendo DS, except with a screen 90% larger screen than the original.
  7. Barbie Photo Fashion Doll - The Barbie Photo Fashion Doll takes photos and displays them on her shirt. You can customize the photos with 15 different frames, and you can upload the pictures to your computer with the mini USB located on the back of her belt.
  8. Lego Monster Hunter - Werewolves, mummies, vampires, ghosts. These Legos are a great mix of fun and scary. There are a variety of sets including Lord of the Rings: The Battle of Helm’s Deep, The Mines of Moria, Attack on Weathertop, The Orc Forge, and more.
  9. VTech Switch & Go Dinos - An action figure you can transform from Dino forms  into vehicle with a few simple moves. Available at various sizes and prices.
  10. FurReal Friends - FurReal Friends are electronic, interactive  stuffed animals that come to life with your touch. The 2012 edition of FurReal Friends have 6 sensors that provide a more life like experience for kids.

As Time Magazine notes, the sticker price on most of the top toys this season is over $50, so we’ll let you know if we spot any deals.

    The iPad mini is set to release in October. It’s anticipated to be a great device for kids, because of the smaller screen size (7.85 in)

    Most of these toys are garbage. Battery toys that play at you. Ipad is not a bad choice or a real wii, or legos. But how about stuff that really engages kids, and excites their imagination and sense of adventure? A bike, a scooter, a wagon, an outdoor playset. Crayons, paper, paint, colored pencils. Erector set-type toys. Wooden puzzles, American Girl Dolls, books.
    These lists of “top toys” are just hype for Chinese manufactured toys of giant corporations hoping to create a hype for this junk. The fijits, furbies, and spidermen will be broken, forgotten, and in the garbage by February.
