Will the Wii U be Released on Black Friday?

Black Friday is more than just the best shopping day of the year — it’s the official start to the holiday shopping season. Each year there’s a hot toy that generally dominates the market and becomes sought after. Last year, it was the Let’s Rock! Elmo and the LeapPad Explorers. Other years it has been the latest electronic device, and this year it looks like it could again be a game console.

Rumors began to circulate early this week that Nintendo is expected to release the new Wii U during the week of Black Friday and will start accepting pre-orders as early as next week. The rumor originated at GoNintendo and came from a Gamestop employee. Along with the rumor came a list of game titles and their prices. Some are said to be place holders and some are said to be true at around $49.99 per game, including:

  • Batman Arkham City: Armored Ed
  • Just Dance 4
  • Marvel Avengers Battle for EarthNintendo Wii U
  • Rabbids Land
  • Raymen Legends
  • Tank! Tank! Tank!
  • Tekken Tag Tournament 2

The specs and price point for the new gaming console is still unknown.

While no one knows if the rumor is true, it does seem like the perfect time to start promoting a product. With enough good reviews and an affordable price it could easily become the most coveted toy of this Christmas season.

The question remains, will people be able to pay attention to this new product in the midst of great deals and sales? Or would it be better to delay the release? Either way this item is destined to become the hot item of the holiday season, so better snatch one up soon before they sell out!
