Office Depot, OfficeMax ready to launch early Black Friday deals November 2

Friday, Oct 31, 2014 at 3:21 PM

officedepotmaxOffice Depot and OfficeMax, who merged last year, announced their “Your Holiday Workshop” campaign Wednesday.

The campaign, which launches November 2, will offer early Black Friday promotions throughout the month as well as “Every Monday is Cyber Monday” deals on November 3, 10, 17 and 24. Actual Cyber Monday deals will offered on November 30 and December 1.

“The campaign provides both businesses and individuals with an assortment of gifts for everyone on their lists, all from a one-stop shop at a holiday value they appreciate,” said Office Depot Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Tim Rea. “We’re excited to share our holiday gift selections while making it convenient to shop either in-store or online.”

Office Depot and OfficeMax plan to offer deals on everything from office supplies to electronics. Highlights so far include a 15″ Dell Inspiron touchscreen laptop priced at $369.99, down from $549.99, as well as a 15″ Toshiba Satellite touchscreen laptop for $399.99 (regular price $549.99). A spokesperson said more deals and store hours will be announced as we move closer to Thanksgiving.

Yesterday Walmart announced its plans for early Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals as well as rollbacks on 20,000 products. Amazon also unveiled its plans for the holidays; you can expect two “Deals of the Day” every day starting November 1 as well as thousands of “Lightning Deals” offered through December 22.

Leaked Ad Says True Value Will Be Closed on Thanksgiving

Friday, Oct 31, 2014 at 3:04 PM

True Value Black FridayAn unfinished copy of the 2014 True Value Black Friday ad leaked this morning, and while the two-page circular is truly a work in progress, it still gives hungry Black Friday enthusiasts a taste of what’s to come when the hardware store’s official ad comes out later this month.

In a departure from the trend of Black Friday sales on Thanksgiving, True Value will NOT be open on Thanksgiving day, and will instead offer sales starting on Wednesday–although the ad doesn’t say what time the store will open. Tentative deals listed in the mock-up include unidentified kids’ scooters for $19.99, two frying pans for $34.97, a Bounce Back Baseball Net for $24.99 and about 10 similar items. As most of these products don’t yet have identifying brands or pictures to go with them, I’d say it’s a safe bet that these prices are going to change before the finished ad is released.
